New SECS Rules - 4.0 Series!
Hello there. Now that SECS has a prize, there are some new rules to be discussed. Here goes.
BRACKETS
Every week will have a 32-team bracket. Each team must have at least one player in #secs on Quakenet IRC by 4:50pm EST. Please use the /nick command to make it clear which team you are on. If you show up any later than 5:15pm EST, you will be considered a no-show. Feel free to start games earlier if both teams are ready.
Round 1 - 5:00pm EST (32 teams)
Round 2 - 6:15pm EST (16 teams)
Round 3 - 7:30pm EST (8 teams)
Round 4 - 8:45pm EST (4 teams)
Round 5 - 10:00p, EST (2 teams)
Brackets are made using a combination of both past SECS performance and current point standings.
SIGNUPS
Each team must sign up in the classic format with only a minor change. You must sign up using your real names or you will risk not being added to the tournament. This is now for money, so we want a completely level playing field.

You may NOT change your own roster the day of the tournament (Sunday).
INTERNATIONAL PLAYER RULE
Each team will now be allowed a MAXIMUM of two international players. These players may both play in a game.
HOSTING
The HIGHER seed between the two teams playing has the choice of host. The other team may choose which side to play if they so choose to. Having international players on your team does not give you the right to demand host. This is a North American tournament and will be run as such. It is your responsibility to find a hostbot for your team if you desire to use one during SECS.
OBSERVERS
The only observers allowed in any games for SECS are approved people (see below) or people that every player on both teams wish to have observe.
Approved observers include...
1. Live (Tournament Admin)
2. Markdrav/Madmortigan (Shoutcaster)
3. 5-s (Shoutcaster/Streamer)
4. Korok (Streamer)
5. Any other shoutcaster affiliated with Dotacast or TGBF.
POINTS
You will be awarded one point per victory in SECS and two points for winning in a SECS Final. If you repeat as champions, you recieve an additional two bonus points per time you repeat. If you defeat the defending champion, you will receive one additional bonus point for each SECS in a row they have won. The top four teams after the first four weeks of play will advance to a single elimination best-of-three playoff where the champion will be crowned. For every round your team forfeits in SECS, your team will lose one point from its total. Replays MUST be sent in to receive points. Replays are to be sent to replays@nadota.com.
CHANGING TEAMS
As you know, core players must remain the same. It's understandable and certainly expected that teams will shuffle. If teams shuffle and a specific player wants his previous team's points, here is what decides any dispute.
1. The new team with more core players will receive their previous teams points in full, subtracting one point for each new player on their roster.
2. In the event of a tie in core players, the new team with more players from their previous team will receive the team's points in full, subtracting one point for each new player on their roster.
3. In the event of a tie in each, the two teams will play in a sudden death showmatch shoutcasted by Markdrav in order to decide which team will receive the points in full.
IN-GAME RULES
1. CM will be the only mode used for this SECS series. All matches must be played on Garena and must be played in the North American DotA Syndicate Room. Higher seed has host choice.
2. No more than two Guinsoo's are allowed per team.
3. No pooling of any sort is allowed. Failure to follow this rule will result in a point loss depending on the severity of the infraction.
4. If a player drops after 15 minutes, the game commences unless a save occurred. No exceptions.
Posing as another team or using ringers will not be tolerated. If you wish to use a ringer, you need to contact me AT LEAST 15 minutes before your scheduled match and verify it with me. If the opposing team does not allow this to happen, then you may not use the said ringer.
Rules are always subject to change!
Disqualifications and point deductions are ultimately decided by the admin and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
